Safeguarding and the Voluntary Sector
NSPCC Learning has published a learning from case reviews briefing on safeguarding in the voluntary sector. The briefing explores learning from a sample of case reviews published between 2015 and 2024. Case reviews often mention the vital support voluntary agencies provide to children and families facing adversities. However, there is sometimes a lack of clarity about voluntary agencies’ roles and responsibilities for child protection and safeguarding.
Issues identified include a lack of clarity around voluntary agencies’ safeguarding roles and responsibilities. The learning from these case reviews highlights the need for organisations in the voluntary sector to create and share clear child protection policies and procedures and build good working relationships with other agencies.
